Chessa was asked by her former young adult pastor if she wanted to help lead at youth because they really needed female youth leaders. On a whim, she said yes, thinking it would be a short term commitment. God opened her heart to the young folk and she spent 6 years volunteering and loving them. When the opportunity came up to work part time with YFC, she jumped at the opportunity, feeling God’s call on her life, and wanting to work with the best kind of people on the planet – kids and teenagers! Chessa enjoys creating a safe space for youth to be themselves and help them to know the God who loves them beyond measure.

Chessa’s prior work experience as a 911 operator gave her a glimpse at the lack of support available to young people and is pursuing a full time degree in Child and Youth Care to better be able to make a difference in the lives of the youth in her community. In her spare time, she loves learning and reading, hiking with her dog Leo, and playing board games with anyone who will challenge her to a game!

By myself, I am of no help to these struggling youth, but I know with the Holy Spirit’s power, love and authority, I can guide them to a loving heavenly Father who has arms wide open for every one of them. Only through Christ is there hope for this generation and the ones to follow.
