Thank you for joining us in this time of prayer and reflection. Our theme for this month is hope. As we begin our time, I invite you to take a few deep breaths to focus and turn your eyes toward Jesus.<\/span>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let us begin by praying St Francis\u2019 Prayer for Peace. Please pray with me:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Where there is hatred, let me bring love.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Where there is offence, let me bring pardon.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Where there is discord, let me bring union.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Where there is error, let me bring truth.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Where there is doubt, let me bring faith.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Where there is despair, let me bring hope.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Where there is darkness, let me bring your light.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Where there is sadness, let me bring joy.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">O Lord, grant that I may not so much seek<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to be consoled as to console,<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to be understood as to understand,<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to be loved as to love,<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for it is in giving that one receives,<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">it is in self-forgetting that one finds,<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">it is in forgiving that one is forgiven,<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">it is in dying that one awakens to eternal life.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today, our scripture is Romans 15:13. As I read the Scripture, turn your thoughts quietly toward the Lord, asking him to open your heart and ears to his voice and word. If you feel comfortable, open your hands in front of you, prepared to receive what God might have for you today. Speak to us, Lord Jesus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Romans 15:13 NIV<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Paul suggests that that trusting in God will bring us joy and peace&#8211;and cause us to overflow with hope. He is the source of our joy, peace and hope. Is that your experience? Where can you see God filling you with joy &amp; peace and overflowing hope in your life?<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pause<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><\/i><em><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">In spanish, to hope and to wait&#8211;the verb esparar&#8211;are the same verb. Both verbs look toward expectation. When you hope, is it hard to wait? Do your eyes stay fixed on Jesus?\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pause<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><b>Part 2: Outward Focus<\/b><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As you reread our verse for today, ask God to highlight for you He is bringing hope in your life.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Romans 15:13 NIV<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It seems like hope is in short supply in today\u2019s world. The dark and heavy seem louder than God\u2019s hope. Without God, hope is hard to find. Where do our young people find hope? Do they confuse momentary happiness with hope?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Can you think of one young person in your life who needs to know about the hope God can bring? Someone who especially needs God\u2019s joy &amp; peace right now&#8211;and hope that will overflow througout their lives?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pause\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With that name in mind, ask God to highlight for you how you can be an image of God\u2019s hope in their world. Ask God to give that teen eyes to see and ears to hear His joy, peace &amp; hope.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pause<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><b>Part 3: Wesleyan Covenant Prayer<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We end this time together with the Wesleyan Covenant Prayer:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I am no longer my own, but yours.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Put me to what you will, place me with whom you will.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Put me to doing, put me to suffering.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let me be put to work for you or set aside for you, praised for you or criticized for you.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let me be full, let me be empty.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let me have all things, let me have nothing.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I freely and fully surrender all things to your glory and service.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And now, O wonderful and holy God, Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer, You are mine, and I am yours.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So be it.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And the covenant which I have made on earth, let it also be made in heaven.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Amen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/section>\r\n\n\n<section class=\"y-columned-content white one center  guten-block\" >\r\n\t<div class=\"grid-narrow\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"y-columned-content--inner\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"y-columned-content--column y-color-responsive-text\"><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a class=\"button primary\" href=\"https:\/\/yfc.ca\/resources\/epray\/\">Return to ePray<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <a class=\"button secondary\" href=\"#top\">Listen to this episode<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/section>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome.
