Our theme for this month is Hope.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today, we\u2019ll be reading from Isaiah.\u00a0 As we read this familiar passage, say to the Lord, Open the eyes of my heart, Lord, Open the eyes of my heart. Hope is not always seen with our eyes, but with our hearts. When everything LOOKS quite hopeless, we turn to the One who is the Author of Life, the purveyor of Hope to help us see with the eyes of our hearts, with His perspective.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Isaiah 40:30, 31<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even youths grow tired and weary, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and young men stumble and fall;<\/span><b>\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">but those who hope in the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lord <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will renew their strength.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They will soar on wings like eagles; <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">they will run and not grow weary,<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0they will walk and not be faint.<\/span><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The hinge of this passage, between weariness and running, between stumbling and soaring is hoping in the Lord.\u00a0 We are fuelled by Hope. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>W<\/em><\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hat sorts of situations seem hopeless? Are you in one of those situations now?\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Pause<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What practices, which people can restore your hope? Name the practices and the people out loud!<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Pause<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><b>Part 2: Outward Focus<\/b><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hope as a word, as a concept, has been diluted, watered down and undermined in our English language.\u00a0 We often say things like, \u201cI hope we have pizza tonight!\u201d\u00a0 But Christian hope is far more profound than that.\u00a0 Hebrews 7:19 talks about the \u201cbringing of a better hope!\u201d\u00a0 When we describe Christian hope to teenagers we can say things like, \u201creal hope is trusting that the guy who packed your parachute knows what he\u2019s doing, or that the guy who tied your bungy cord knots around your ankles knows about knots and about math. He knows how to calculate your weight and the distance to the ground.\u00a0 Christian hope is a hope in the God who shuts the mouths of lions, who floats arks and who empties tombs. Christian hope is in the God who stands in front of a tomb and says, Lazarus, come out, and Lazarus comes out!\u00a0 My hope is in the Lord, who gave Himself for me.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As we reread this passage, can you think of one young person in your life who especially needs to hope in God right now?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Isaiah 40:30,31<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even youths grow tired and weary, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and young men stumble and fall;<\/span><b>\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">but those who hope in the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lord <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will renew their strength.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They will soar on wings like eagles; <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">they will run and not grow weary,<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0they will walk and not faint.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How can this message of renewal of strength, of Hope, encourage your students?<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pause<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Am I setting a good example of soaring, running and walking in hope?\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pause<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Think about how this word, this simple, godly four letter word, Hope, might change your perspective today.\u00a0 Soar, run, walk,\u00a0 and set an example of a life fuelled by hope.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is my closing prayer for all of us . . .\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ephesians 1:18<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>I pray that the eyes of our hearts may be enlightened<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in order that we may know the hope to which he has called us, the riches of his glorious inheritance in His holy people, in His youth for Christ Canada team!<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><b>Part 3: Wesleyan Covenant Prayer<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We end this time together with the Wesleyan Covenant Prayer. Remember that this is a prayer, spoken to the God of all Hope.
