Part 1: Inward Focus<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

Welcome everyone to our weekly epray. Thank you for joining us in this time of prayer and reflection. Our theme is rooted. As we begin our time, I invite you to focus and turn our attention toward Jesus.<\/span><\/p>\n

Take a deep breath.<\/span><\/p>\n

Let your shoulders drop.<\/span><\/p>\n

Become aware of God\u2019s presence with you – right here, right now.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our theme today is rooted, and our scripture text is Colossians 2:6-7.<\/span><\/p>\n

Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him,\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

rooted and built up in him and established in the faith,\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n


\n<\/span>Colossians 2:6-7 offers us three metaphors to aid us as we consider the growth of our faith in Christ Jesus. First, we are rooted, as a seed nestled in the soil, creating a stem, then leaves and branches, drawing nutrients from the earth. Paul invites us to have our roots of faith sink deep, like the seeds that were planted in good soil. A plant with deep roots can produce much fruit.<\/span><\/p>\n

Let\u2019s take a few moments to reflect.<\/span><\/p>\n

Who or what has been a part of helping your roots of faith sink deep? Where was the seed first planted? Who helped it grow?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span>What has caused your roots to go deep? Seeds need to be watered and fed to grow; our faith is the same. What nurtures your faith?<\/span><\/p>\n

Part 2: Outward Focus<\/b><\/p>\n

\n

Think of a young person you know. <\/span>Who do you see being invited to be rooted and established in their faith? Name them.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>How can you encourage them to place their hope in God\u2014even if things feel messy or uncertain? Is God inviting you into their story? Is there a word, a gesture, or a prayer you could offer?<\/span><\/p>\n

Pause<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Let us put our hope in God\u2019s power to transform those lives, growing our young friends to be \u201c<\/strong><\/span>rooted and built up in him and established in the faith.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Take a moment to be thankful for all God has done and will do.<\/span><\/p>\n

Part 3: Closing Prayer<\/b><\/p>\n

We will close with an ancient prayer for God\u2019s peace and protection as we entrust ourselves into His care.<\/span><\/p>\n

O God,<\/span>
\n<\/span> from whom all holy desires, all good counsels,<\/span>
\n<\/span> and all just works do proceed:<\/span>
\n<\/span> give to your servants that peace<\/span>
\n<\/span> which the world cannot give;<\/span>
\n<\/span> that our hearts may be set to obey your will;<\/span>
\n<\/span> and that we, being defended from the fear of our enemies,<\/span>
\n<\/span> may pass our time in rest and quietness;<\/span>
\n<\/span> through Jesus Christ our Lord.<\/span>
\n<\/span> Amen.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/section>\r\n\n\n
