Sports Chaplain
Mission: To serve and support the Steinbach Pistons Junior A Hockey Club.
- The Hockey Chaplain program is meant to offer a safe, emotional, and spiritual place for players, personnel, billets, and the families involved with the Steinbach Pistons Junior A Hockey Club, regardless of one’s personal church or non-church perspective to talk about life and spiritual matters.
- Providing a chapel time every other week where attendance or involvement is completely voluntary, and confidences are kept with sensitivity. A typical hockey Chapel includes (1) food provided by a local restaurant; (2) an ice breaker/team builder exercise; (3) an interactive lesson/thoughts; (4) and closing prayer. The average chapel runs 45 – 60 minutes.
- Offers players a place to have conversation as they navigate life amidst the many decisions and life pressures they face. “It’s a team effort even off the ice – everyone working together.”
- Assisting in finding volunteer (and possibly work) opportunities in the community for the players which gives them a chance to give back to the community.
