Peace Country Youth Unlimited | YFC may be new to the area, but for Kahala, it is home. She was born and raised in Grimshaw. The Peace Country has always been home and is full of many great memories for Kahala and her husband Jamie. They are now creating new memories in the area with their two young children. During college, Kahala found herself in Abbotsford, B.C at Lifeteams, a Youth Unlimited training school for youth workers. Through Lifeteams and her time at Briercrest College, Kahala found God was leading her to work with youth in the community, to speak hope and truth into their lives. Returning to the north after college to work with youth, Kahala began the journey of what ministry would look like in the Peace Country. In the fall of 2018, the conversation started about the possibility of bringing Youth Unlimited | YFC to the Peace Country. Kahala officially came on staff as the Affiliate Director in May of 2019 and began the process of launching the Peace Country Affiliate with the help of a volunteer leadership committee. In her role, Kahala is blessed with the amazing job of working with youth, networking with other resources in the community and working with her team of volunteers to create programs for youth. She is excited to see what the future holds for Peace Country Youth Unlimited | YFC. A few fun facts about Kahala, she loves to snowboard, crocheting and working with youth. You can often find her at drop-in crocheting and chatting with youth. She is always up for a game of Dutch Blitz!
