Part 1: Inward Focus
Welcome friends. Glad we can share these few minutes together. Our e-pray theme for November is Joy.
As we begin, Let’s take a moment to slow down… and hear a portion from the beautiful “Praises of God” by St. Francis of Assissi:
“Lord, You are rest, You are gladness and joy, You are our hope, You are all our riches to sufficiency.”
Our Scripture today is Psalm 16:11 (NLT) – let’s tune in to these words that God shares with us through David…
“You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of Your presence
and the pleasures of living with You forever.”
This is the end of an amazing chapter. King David’s words that Peter would later apply to Jesus Himself.
When I reflect on “You will show me the way of life.” I imagine being deep in a forest surrounded by a complex web of trails – but there is a trusted guide alongside me who knows each and every path. The joy of Your presence… not superficial happiness because circumstances are going my way… not joy because of what God has provided for me … but deep joy from being WITH God, not just for today but unending. FOREVER.
So let’s reflect together on a couple questions –
Where do you most often experience His presence in your day to day life? Is there a pattern about the
time of day or physical location?
pause
Next…what is one specific obstacle that is likely to rob you of joy this week? Name it, and simply bring it to the Lord.

Part 2: Outward Focus
As we listen to Psalm 16:11 a second time… let’s ask God to help us connect this passage to the youth we serve.
“You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of Your presence
and the pleasures of living with You forever.”
Ask the Spirit to bring to mind a specific youth who is in particular need of guidance this week. Take a moment to ask the Lord to intervene.
pause
We know so many of our youth are lonely. Pause and pray for one of your
youth to experience the joy of belonging… both with one another and with
God Himself.

Part 3: Wesleyan Covenant Prayer
As always, let’s end our time with the Wesleyan Covenant Prayer:
I am no longer my own, but yours.
Put me to what you will, place me with whom you will.
Put me to doing, put me to suffering.
Let me be put to work for you or set aside for you, praised for you or criticized for you.
Let me be full, let me be empty.
Let me have all things, let me have nothing.
I freely and fully surrender all things to your glory and service.
And now, O wonderful and holy God, Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer, You are mine, and I am yours.
So be it.
And the covenant which I have made on earth, let it also be made in heaven.
Amen.
