Scripture: 1 Corinthians 3:6-7

Part 1: Inward Focus

Welcome to today’s ePray. As we go through the following prompts, you are invited to come as you are. Take a few deep breaths, and prepare for this time with God.

God, with everything that I am I wish to honour you. Show me how to live a life that is in line with your character. Teach me how to live a life that brings you glory. You are worthy of all my praise, attention, love, and affection. Thank you for drawing me closer to your heart. Thank you for loving me. Today, I want to honour you. Amen.

Our theme for this month is growth.

Today, we’ll be reading from 1 Corinthians 3:6-7.

I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow.

Paul highlights that while planting seeds by sharing the gospel is important, the ultimate transformation of hearts comes only from God. It serves as a reminder to focus on faithful service to God rather than results.

Using the following prompts, reflect on your growth with God.

Think back to the time or person who planted and watered the seed of Good News in your life. How have you grown since that time?

How is your love for God growing in this season?

Where do you need to lean on God more in your life?

Part 2: Outward Focus

As we reread the passage, consider the ministry you are part of and the youth that you interact with.

I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow.

How is God inviting you to be the water in the lives of the youth right now?

Pause

Who’s love for God needs watering and how can you encourage growth in their life?

Pause

Who can you share the gospel with this week?

Part 3: Closing Prayer

We will close with an ancient prayer for God’s peace and protection as we entrust ourselves into His care:

O God,
from whom all holy desires, all good counsels,
and all just works do proceed:
give to your servants that peace
which the world cannot give;
that our hearts may be set to obey your will;
and that we, being defended from the fear of our enemies,
may pass our time in rest and quietness;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
