Part 1: Inward Focus

Welcome…

I’m so glad you’re here today. To settle your heart and become aware of God’s presence within you, let’s take a moment to slow our breathing with three deep breaths.

Today, our theme is growth. Growth doesn’t always feel obvious. Sometimes it feels slow, hidden or like nothing is happening at all. But what if growth is still taking place even in the unseen?

Let’s begin with a prayer.

Oh Holy Spirit, quiet our hearts before You.Help us to hear Your voice and recognize what You are growing in and through us. May we be sustained in You as we grow.

Today’s reading is from Psalms 92:12-13 NIV (New International Version)

The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God.

This passage reminds us that growth begins with being rooted in God. Take a moment and let these words settle.

Flourish.

Growth.

Planted.

Sometimes we long to see growth to feel like something in us is changing. But this passage doesn’t begin with growth it begins with being planted. Because what is planted will grow. Maybe right now, you don’t feel like you’re flourishing. Maybe you feel stuck or unchanged. But growth doesn’t come from striving—it comes from being rooted.

Rooted in His presence. Planted in His house. And even when you cannot see it – God is at work.

Take a moment to sit with the Lord. Where in your life do you feel stuck or not growing?

Pause

What might it look like for you to be more deeply rooted in God’s presence?

Pause

What could God be growing in you even now?

Part 2: Outward Focus

As we come back to this passage, I invite you to bring to mind a young person in your life.

A youth who may be feeling stuck like nothing is changing. Maybe they feel overwhelmed or like they keep falling short.

And yet—even here—God is present.

What if, even now, God is quietly planting something deeper in them?

Because even when growth isn’t visible what is planted in Him will flourish.

Let’s read the Scripture again.

Psalms 92:12-13 NIV (New International Version)

The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the

house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God.

Take a moment to bring that young person before the Lord…

Where might God already be at work in their life even if they cannot see it?

Pause

What would it look like for them to be rooted in God rather than striving to prove themselves?

Pause

How might you gently encourage what God is already growing in them?

Pause

Part 3: Closing Prayer

May we allow ourselves to rest in the God who grows what we cannot.

We’re going to close our time with an ancient prayer for God’s peace and protection as we entrust ourselves into his loving care.

O God,
from whom all holy desires, all good counsels,
and all just works do proceed:
give to your servants that peace
which the world cannot give;
that our hearts may be set to obey your will;
and that we, being defended from the fear of our enemies,
may pass our time in rest and quietness;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
