Lectio Divina: Clarity
Date: July 13, 2026
Scripture: Romans 12:1-2

Part 1: Inward Focus

Welcome to this week’s epray. Our theme for this month is Clarity.

Pause to be still and breathe slowly centering your senses on the presence of God as I open in prayer

Heavenly Father,I ask for the gift of clarity. Renew our minds today. Give us the spiritual discernment to see the world through Your eyes, to understand Your good, pleasing, and perfect will. May the way we live, think, and interact with those around us—be a clear and holy reflection of Your love.Amen.

As I read the Scripture, turn your thoughts quietly toward the Lord, asking him to open your heart and ears to his voice and word.

Romans 12:1-2

And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. 2Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

How are you allowing God to transform your mind?

Pause

How are you offering your daily routines, body, and choices as a “living sacrifice” to God today?

Part 2: Outward Focus

As we reread this passage, listen for a name that God is putting on your mind?

Romans 12:1-2

And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. 2Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Pray for a person or persons that come to mind whom you would like see God to transform into his likeness

Pause

What is one way you can encourage them to resist the “behavior and customs” of the world?

Pause

Let’s read the passage again in the First Nations Version:

So then, my sacred family members, because Creator has shown us such mercy and kindness, I now call on you to offer your whole beings, heart, mind, and strength, to the Great Spirit as a living sacrifice. Do this in a sacred and spiritual manner that will make his heart glad.

Do not permit the ways of this world to mold and shape you. Instead, let Creator change you from the inside out, in the way a caterpillar becomes a butterfly. He will do this by giving you a new way of thinking, seeing, and walking. Then you will know for sure what the Great Spirit wants for you, things that are good, that make the heart glad, and that help you to walk the path of becoming a mature and true human being.

Part 2: Closing Prayer

We will close with an ancient prayer for God’s peace and protection as we entrust ourselves into his care.

O God,
from whom all holy desires, all good counsels,
and all just works do proceed:
give to your servants that peace
which the world cannot give;
that our hearts may be set to obey your will;
and that we, being defended from the fear of our enemies,
may pass our time in rest and quietness;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
