About YFC Selkirk
We exist to see every young person living fully in Christ.
Youth for Christ Selkirk is a satellite of Youth for Christ Winnipeg. Since 1987, the Selkirk Drop-In Centre has been a safe space for teens needing physical, spiritual and social care and support. Approximately 200 youth of various ages come through our doors annually, and the drop-in has become a place for them to be fed nutritious meals, feel safe, find friendship, get support, relax, have fun, and hear about God’s love for them. Over the span of 38 years, YFC Selkirk has been a home away from home that has helped thousands of youth find hope and purpose.
THE FIRE
Tragically, in September 2024, our building had an electrical fire in the kitchen. There was extreme smoke, heat and water damage throughout the building, making it unusable for programs, and displacing the teens who rely on it. During the insurance evaluation process, a structural engineer came to the conclusion that the foundation of our structure was faulty as well.
We have made the decision that we felt would be the best investment for the future of our ministry, which is to remove our 80 year old building, and create a new building in the same location. We want to build a lasting legacy that can bless the community of Selkirk for generations to come.
