LYU Outreach Manager:
Reports to LYU Satellite Director and is accountable to Kawartha Youth For Christ
Salary: $22.00/hour
Hours Employed: 30-40 hours per week

Overview of Position

The purpose of the LYU Outreach Manager role for Lakefield Youth Unlimited (LYU) is to envision, pioneer and develop ways that will connect, engage and disciple youth in Lakefield and the surrounding area. This manager role requires a missional mindset and the ability to oversee and invest into outreach staff while together serving youth and their families in schools, the community and at The Barn.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Promotion – ensures that the mission, vision, philosophy, and strategies of LYU and Kawartha YFC are being followed

Ministry Development – ensures that LYU is developing creative outreach strategies, engaging with and discipling youth, meeting family and community needs, developing and growing skilled base programming at The Barn that is consistent with the mission, vision, and strategy of LYU

  • Key Skills: community focused, creative, flexible, adaptive, collaborative (teamwork), willing to take risk, missional, entrepreneurial, prayer focused

Manage Outreach Staff and Volunteers – includes staff support, performance management, staff/volunteer training, recruitment, volunteer development, co-leading team meetings, overseeing spiritual development, budgeting, purchasing, marketing communications (web, social media, newsletters), and working with LYU Satellite Director to envision and plan for future direction and programming

  • Key Skills: leadership, people management, experienced, communication, planning, teachable, leading by example, prayer focused

Fundraising and Partner Development – has the ability to secure and maintain a sound base of financial & prayer partners to a level sufficient to fund the salary and immediate costs of this position; this includes monitoring and oversight of staff as they do the same

  • Key Skills: relationship builder, communicator, persistence, confidence, fundraising ability, faith in God’s provision, prayer focused

Elementary Outreach Worker

Position Title: Elementary Outreach Worker
Supervised by: Satellite Director
Hours Employed: Part-time 15-20 hours/week

Expectations:

  1. Passion and heart for mentoring and developing relationships with students in grades 2-8, seeking ways to meet physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual needs for the purpose of relational evangelism and discipleship.
  2. Maintain current programs and develop new programs to support students and develop relationships with students and families.
  3. Work alongside and collaborate with LYU elementary team, volunteers and committee members.
  4. Engage with students primarily at school locations (public and Catholic) by hosting LYU programs and providing school support within the classrooms.
  5. Positively receive direction and guidance from the LYU Satellite Director.
  6. Develop positive relationships and communicate with parents, students, churches, school staff and other local organizations.
  7. Pursue an active, growing relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
  8. Participate in training and development opportunities to better equip oneself.
  9. Establish a personal financial support base and participate in fundraising events for the satellite.
  10. Help to build and maintain corporate community partnership in regards to funding.
