Part 1: Inward Focus

Welcome everyone to our weekly epray. Thank you for joining us in this time of prayer and reflection. Our focus for this month is preparing our hearts and minds for our National Ministry Conference. As we begin our time, I invite you to focus and turn our attention toward Jesus.

Take a deep breath.

Let your shoulders drop.

Become aware of God’s presence with you – right here, right now.

Our scripture is 1 Peter 3:15.

But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.

I grew up in the church. When I first met Jesus, He met me in my fear of being left alone. As I grew, that story expanded. Today, Jesus meets me in a place that keeps me from needing to take the lead in my own life. God’s hope for me means I don’t have to carry the weight of life alone. Jesus’ sacrifice took that weight for me.

Let’s take a few moments to reflect

What is it about Christ’s message that first brought you hope? What in His message continues to bring you hope?

Pause

We aren’t on this journey of hope alone. Who or what has helped you hold to the hope you have?

Part 2: Outward Focus

Think of a young person you know.

I sometimes imagine that I am holding hope for them, as they journey toward Jesus. Ask God to give you patience and grace with that young person as they begin to hold hope themselves.

Pause

How can you encourage them to place their hope in God—even if things feel messy or uncertain? Is God inviting you into their story? Is there a word, a gesture, or a prayer you could offer?

Pause

Let us put our hope in God’s power to transform those lives, so they too can step with hope and love through Jesus.

Take a moment to be thankful for all God has done and will do.

Part 3: Closing Prayer

We will close with an ancient prayer for God’s peace and protection as we entrust ourselves into his care.

O God,
from whom all holy desires, all good counsels,
and all just works do proceed:
give to your servants that peace
which the world cannot give;
that our hearts may be set to obey your will;
and that we, being defended from the fear of our enemies,
may pass our time in rest and quietness;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
