Part 1: Inward Focus

Welcome, friends. Thank you for joining me in this time of reflection and prayer together.

As many of us gather for National Ministry Conference this month, our attention turns toward the ways God renews, restores, and calls us forward together in ministry.

This time of year, much of our country is well into spring. Trees are budding, grass is returning, and the earth feels alive again after a long winter. There is something hopeful about watching new life emerge, and yet, even the beauty of spring is temporary. Seasons continue to change. Spring gives way to summer, summer to fall, and eventually back into winter again.

The hope we have in Christ is different. Scripture tells us we have been given a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus — a hope that does not fade with seasons or circumstances. A hope rooted in something eternal.

As we begin, I invite you to take a few slow breaths,  settling into God’s presence.

Breathe in: “You are living hope.”

Breathe out: “My hope is in You.”

Today’s Scripture comes from 1 Peter 1:3–5:

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.”

As you reflect on these words, allow yourself to rest in the permanence of God’s promises.

Where in your life do you find yourself longing for renewal or fresh hope? Invite God into that place now.
Pause

What does it mean to you that your hope in Christ is living and eternal — not fragile or temporary like the changing seasons?
Pause

As you enter this season of ministry and gathering, how might God be inviting you to trust Him more deeply with the future?

Part 2: Outward Focus

As we listen to this passage again, let’s turn our hearts toward the young people we serve.

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade…”

Many young people today are searching for something steady — something lasting in a world that often feels uncertain and constantly changing.

Think of one young person in your life right now who may especially need hope.

What burdens or uncertainties might this young person be carrying today? Pray that they would encounter the living hope found in Christ.
Pause

How can you reflect the steadiness and faithfulness of God to the youth you serve — especially in moments when life feels unstable or discouraging?
Pause

What would it look like for our ministries to become places where young people experience not just encouragement for today, but lasting hope for eternity?

Part 3: Closing Prayer

We end this time together with the Wesleyan Covenant Prayer. As we pray, may we remember that the God who calls us into ministry is also the God who holds our future securely in His hands.

I am no longer my own, but yours.

Put me to what you will, place me with whom you will.
Put me to doing, put me to suffering.
Let me be put to work for you or set aside for you, praised for you or criticized for you.
Let me be full, let me be empty.
Let me have all things, let me have nothing.
I freely and fully surrender all things
To your glory and service.
And now, O wonderful and holy God, Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer,You are mine, and I am yours.
So be it.
And the covenant which I have made on earth,Let it also be made in heaven.
Amen.
