Part 1: Inward Focus

Welcome to today’s ePray. I invite you to join me as we pray through and contemplate on scripture. Find a comfortable place and close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, (pause) then out (pause). Let yourself slow down. God is near. Ask Him to meet you where you are, and trust Him with your thoughts and feelings. Our theme for this month is renewal.

Today, we’ll be reading from Psalm 51:10-12. 

Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me. Do not banish me from your presence, and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you.

As King David cried out to God with humble remorse for his sin, so too must we search our hearts and ask ourselves hard questions. 

Use the following prompts to help you start an ongoing conversation with God.

Does your life reflect a clean heart and a loyal spirit? Take time to confess any sin to God, pausing the recording if necessary.

Where do you need renewal in your life? Talk to God about your situation. 

Pause

Ask God to restore the joy of your salvation.

Pause

Part 2: Closing Prayer

We will end this time of prayer with an ancient prayer for our Father’s peace and protection:

O God,
from whom all holy desires, all good counsels,
and all just works do proceed:
give to your servants that peace
which the world cannot give;
that our hearts may be set to obey your will;
and that we, being defended from the fear of our enemies,
may pass our time in rest and quietness;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
