YFC Canada

Our Mission

We aim to develop each of these areas through meaningful relationships so that all youth may reach their full potential. Our goal is to establish culturally relevant outreach programs for today’s youth, run by Youth for Christ youth workers, that will model the love of God and communicate the life-changing message of Jesus Christ. We combine healthy relationships with creative programs to help young people make good choices and establish a solid foundation for principled living. We are committed to communicating the person, work and teachings of Jesus Christ and discipling young believers into the Church in ways that are responsible, effective and culturally sensitive.

Our Vision

Our vision is a community where all teens – no matter what their means or circumstance – thrive in relationships of love and care where the individual’s physical, emotional, spiritual, social and intellectual needs are met.

Our Strategic Plan

There are over 10,000 young people in our five local counties. It is our belief that through strategic partnerships with local school and community organizations, we will reach out to all these young people and help them attain their full life potential.

Implementing this Strategic Plan would entail expanding our active presence to all secondary schools in our counties. The goal is to have a YFC team assigned to each school to work, as volunteers, within the school in whatever capacity required by the school leadership. Associated with this team would be such community facilities and programs as drop-in centres, community houses, shelters, street ministry, etc. where students could safely develop their relationships with the YFC team. As well, our mission strategy has the YFC teams actively engaged with summer camps to establish relationships which would carry on into their high school years. Our ministry is involved in caring in ways that are relevant to this generation.

Strategies that change lives are our focus. Impacting today’s culture, training tomorrow’s leaders and caring for Canada’s youth requires never ending creative strategy development. We start with the premise that we don’t know the needs of the youth in a particular area; we then set out to find the ‘greatest felt need’ in the community, school, neighbourhood etc. for the youth. This is done by building relationships with youth, principals, teachers, community leaders and parents. Once we identify the ‘felt needs’, we set out to meet them – as we successfully meet/address these ‘needs’ we build genuine credibility for the ministry.
