CampFire 2021

Covid-19 Policy & Response

PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY BEFORE REGISTERING. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THESE MEASURES WILL MEAN YOU CANNOT ATTEND.

Recognizing that there is some level of risk in offering in-person camp this year, we are following the guidance of the Simcoe Muskoka Health Unit. A letter with the complete guidelines will be sent out to you once it has been approved. Should we be unable to safely operate camp, or need to cancel the camp, a full refund will be offered. Further safety measures are as follows:

  • Campers and staff will be required to complete a COVID-19 test in the 3-4 days prior to the camp starting on August 23, 2021. These can be done for free at local clinics in your area. A negative test will be required prior to boarding transportation to camp, or arriving at the camp facility, whichever is applicable.
  • Campers and staff will take all reasonable measures to limit exposures to risks in the 14 days prior to camp. Practicing mask wearing, proper hand and respiratory hygiene, and maintaining a distance of 2 meters from those outside of your household bubble, as well as refraining from out of province travel, and close contact with those who have travelled will be key. Campers will provide a written attestation (provided with the Camper Letter) upon arrival.
  • Daily wellness screens, and working with public health should any symptoms arise
  • Small groups to limit large group exposures
  • Campers may share tent accommodations, providing they are able to be 2 meters from the person they are sharing a tent with. Siblings who are living together in the same household bubble may also share accommodation, without the spacing requirements. Campers sharing tent accommodations will be part of the same small group.
  • While not required, we do strongly encourage participants to be vaccinated. All staff and participants will still follow masking and distancing guidelines, despite vaccination status.
  • If we cannot proceed with CampFire on the Health Units directive, a full refund will be issued. If a camper cancels within 48 hours, a refund will be issued, minus the $25 deposit, which is non-refundable.
