Derek grew up in a loving home, with a sister, mom and dad.  Faith and Jesus didn’t become a part of his life until he met his wife, Lisa.  She convinced him to come to church to experience God and the community of people that she had been involved with for many years.  Through that, Derek has come to know that those two things that have made his life richer and is forever thankful to her for that.  They also have a son who makes the home joyful and fun!

Derek likes playing video games, board games, sports & having good conversations with people – listening to people’s life experiences that are different than his own. That Lisa shares the same mindset in these things is a huge blessing.

Having worked with youth in various formats since 2002, Derek loves being there as young people discover their potential. He loves seeing youth develop into independent young adults and is so blessed that some of them invite him into that experience. He also loves watching their worlds open up as they take in new experiences and just really enjoys hanging out with young people.
