I was born in Victoria, BC, Canada to missionary parents who have worked with Youth for Christ my whole life. I grew up in Venezuela, Argentina, the USA, and the United Arab Emirates, and had the privilege of experiencing different cultures and seeing the beautiful ways that God works all around the world. I grew up in youth group ministry my whole life and loved it. Our move to the UAE in 2018 for my grade 10 year was when my personal relationship with God really started to grow, bloom and flourish. My friends, parents, and youth leaders pushed and encouraged me to use the gifts God had given me to bless others. From there, I started leading worship, and encountering God in everything that I did. God’s love for me was moving from my head to the heart.

After graduating in 2021, I took a couple of gap years to minister in many contexts in different ways. I served with Youth for Christ in the UAE and in Barcelona teaching English, leading worship and connecting with youth at many camps and retreats. I also served in Nyon, Switzerland with the international youth there who were living a similarly highly-mobile life. It was there that God really used me and continued to grow a passion to serve Him more and more.

I feel called to share the experiences and love and comfort that I have felt in my life and to pour it out on others around me. My passion is to work with youth and children who are hungry for real love, hope, peace, and purpose, pointing them to the One who knows them, loves them unconditionally, and can offer them everything they need!

I joined YFC Victoria in 2013, taking the position as Executive Director with a vision to bring God’s message of hope to every young person in greater Victoria. Knowing that I cannot do this on my own, I have been looking for people that I can trust; people that can develop those ministries better than I could and that I can work closely with on a daily basis. Jolyn is uniquely gifted and one whose heart is to see youth come into the fullness of a relationship with Jesus.
