Bio

I found Jesus back home in California and, in 2009, I moved to Victoria to be closer to my wife’s family. I immediately found a church and got involved with the Esquimalt Church of the Nazarene. God really had a hand in me joining The Community Youth as a volunteer and, through these ministries, I formed amazing friendships and bonds. People came into my life that would become family.

I have been volunteering in youth ministries for over a decade now. I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing youth come to Christ and turn away from darkness. Through difficult times, I’ve stood by them because that’s what Jesus would do for any of us. When I look back and think of those who are saved and those who have gone through healing, I know I have been doing what the Lord has called me to do.

Now I look forward to hosting a young adults Bible Study as the youth we’ve led to the Lord are now growing up. I want to continue to work with them as some of them have found Jesus as youth and some later as young adults. It is important that when youth age out they have a place to go to and be encouraged to serve in God’s kingdom as well as finding a church. God doesn’t stop wanting to reach out to them, so I won’t either. I’m also excited to see other youth I’m connected with join this group and learn more about God’s Word.

Pledge Support for Carlos

Dear Friend,

Youth For Christ Victoria is in an exciting period of their ministry on Vancouver Island.  With new ministry opportunities surfacing, we are looking for vibrant leaders who will make an impact in young people’s lives.  Carlos Rodriguez comes to us as someone who is passionate to see young people come to know Jesus and all that He is.

I joined YFC Victoria in 2013, taking the position as Executive Director with a vision to bring God’s message of Hope to every young person in this city.  We quickly began to grow in a number of areas and more recently have been able to add a thriving youth ministry, The Community Youth, to our existing work with the Compassionate Resource Warehouse and Mobile Outreach in Esquimalt.

Carlos has been a staple volunteer of The Community Youth for over a decade.  He has a significant influence in the young people’s lives and connects with them at their level.  Recently, Carlos and I had a conversation where he indicated his desire to move from a volunteer position to joining our staff on a part-time basis.  We are thrilled to have him come on board in this way and to pursue a greater influence for the Gospel in Esquimalt.

In order for this missionary leadership role to be possible, Carlos will need your support. Please hear his story and be stirred by his passion. You can become a part of Carlos’ ministry by committing to pray for him daily and by becoming a monthly financial partner. It will be a blessing to you as well, as you become a part of changing lives among the at-risk young people on Vancouver Island.

Would you consider coming alongside Carlos as a prayer and financial partner by investing in his leadership as well? The YFC model requires all YFC staff to raise their own salary as youth missionaries, so your partnership is vital.

More and more, I see and understand that God has chosen to advance and build His kingdom by making His children interdependent. Some are witnessing in their workplace or on their campus, and some are living simply so that they can support those who are serving in missions. Others are called to full-time ministry and they rely on the generosity of churches, friends and family to support their cause.

Thanks for listening to Carlos’ heart and praying about this.

Sincerely,

Lindsay Hodges
