YFC Canada
I joined the YFC Steinbach team as a full-time Youth Worker as of July 2026. Before coming on staff, I had already been volunteering at Backstage for a while, and in that time the youth became people I genuinely care about.
Before YFC, I spent ten years working specifically in gender-based violence, supporting women and families going through trauma, transitions, and healing. That work shaped so much of how I view the world and work with people. It taught me how to sit with people through pain and grief, how to listen and ask questions, how to advocate in broken systems, and how to show up consistently for someone who needs a steady presence. It is my privilege to step into this role with a wealth of experience while also getting to offer the hope of Jesus in those darker moments.
At YFC Steinbach, youth workers do more than run programs. We build long-term relationships with young people, creating a safe place where youth can be known, supported, and challenged as they grow. This happens through everyday conversations, shared meals, mentorship, and simply showing up week after week through the highs and the harder parts of life.
Intentional and relational care is what I hope to bring into every interaction I have with youth as I begin my work here. I care deeply about making people feel seen and welcomed, and I believe the youth I have connected with during my time here as a volunteer can attest to that. I’m grateful to be doing work that draws on both my experience and my love of Jesus, and I’m excited to keep building on the relationships that are already growing here.
