Mental health is of great importance to the well-being of an individual. Good mental health is the result of approaching the highs and lows of life with strength and hope. On the other hand poor mental health is a byproduct of falling short of the demands of everyday life, consequently leading to a decline in thinking clearly and positive feelings. Someone who struggles with mental illness can have poor metal health, but they can also have good mental health if they are able to meet the pressures of daily living. Similarly someone with no mental illness can  come into mental health issues. Teens are expected to meet the high expectations society has set for them, and those pressures can take a toll of the youths mental health. Common mental health disorders in teens include anxiety disorders, depression, conduct disorder, ADD/ADHD, alcohol use disorder, and eating disorders. Do you see your friend struggling with mental health, but don’t know how to help? Its important to educate yourself on the topic like you are right now. So, you’re on the right track! After you finish reading this take a look at our anxiety and depression resources. Talk to someone like a parent or youth leader if you’re concerned about your friends well being. Don’t leave them alone in their struggles. Remember things most likely will not get better right away, but be patient. Stay by their side and encourage them along their journey. They need your support!
