Sharing our Heart for Young People

By Cliff Heide, Executive Director

This article was part of the 2025 Impact Report (March 2026 Newsletter)

At Youth for Christ Winnipeg, our mission is the heartbeat of all that we do: to see every young person living fully in Christ. Jesus’ words in Matthew 25:40 guide us in this effort.

“Whatever you did for one of the least of
these…you did for me.”

They remind us that when we show up for young people with care and consistency, we are responding to Christ Himself. Impact, for us, is not just something we measure; it is something we endeavour to live out each day.

Each year, we reflect on what God has done through this ministry. We celebrate growth, acknowledge challenges, and ask how we can faithfully steward the trust, resources, and relationships we have been given. Statistics help tell part of the story, and we are grateful for what they represent. This last year 170 youth engaged in follow up discipleship programs. Yet behind every number is a young person with a name, a story, and a longing to be known.

Today’s youth navigate a world full of noise – questions about school, relationships, social media, and the future. Beneath the surface are deeper questions of identity, belonging, and purpose: Do I matter? Where do I fit? Is there more to life than this? At YFC, we walk alongside young people as these questions emerge, believing the truest answers are found in Jesus.

Our programs provide creative spaces, meals, activities, resources, and community connection—but at the heart of it all is relational presence. We show up consistently, offering unconditional care regardless of background, behaviour, or interest in faith. Love is never a reward and faith is never forced. Young people are invited to explore Jesus at their own pace, knowing they are accepted and valued first. When they choose to take steps toward Him, we celebrate. When they are not ready, we continue to walk with them in love.

This approach reflects both meaningful social good and a clear Christian hope. Research affirms what Scripture has long shown: transformation happens through long-term, loving relationships. Much of the impact we witness cannot be easily quantified. How do you measure healing, restored hope, or a heart learning to trust again? These moments often unfold quietly—but they carry eternal weight. One young person discovering their identity in Christ matters more than any statistic,
because it speaks to the transforming power of God’s love. This report reflects outcomes we can count, but more importantly, it reflects lives being shaped through relationship, care, and space to explore faith.

Thank you for partnering with us. Your support helps ensure that young people – especially those who feel unseen – are known, loved, and invited into life with Jesus. Together, we are sharing our hearts, and Christ’s, with the next generation.
