For Grace, the weight of the past often felt like an unbreakable cycle. Having been taken from her own mother by Child and Family Services (CFS) as a child, she found herself facing the same devastating reality a year ago when her own children were apprehended. Struggling with social negativity, mental hardship, and the crushing loss of her kids, she felt overwhelmed by the “hard things.”

Initially, Grace was deeply nervous about joining a support group for young moms; her previous experiences with such groups had been negative. However, encouraged by her sister, she stepped through the doors of Youth for Christ There, instead of judgment, she found a safe, supportive community she could depend on.

Our Young Parents staff recognize that the path to restoration can be daunting, but they also know that hope and wholeness through Jesus is real. They worked with Grace to break her goals into smaller steps, tackling the journey “one day at a time.”

Through the encouragement of the Young Parents staff, along with the young adult group led by Work Force, she began to find hope and she committed herself fully to the process. She was supported to re-engage with therapy through Youth for Christ Winnipeg’s counselling ministry, Turning Point. She secured an apartment, completed the necessary classes, and passed her tests.

At the heart of her transformation was a pivotal spiritual decision. Early in the process, Grace decided to lean into Jesus, learning to walk with Him and trust Him
even with the hardest parts of her life. This faith provided her with the strength, courage, and hope needed to persevere.

The result of her hard work and newfound faith was a beautiful restoration. This past December, Grace’s two children were returned to her care.

Because of the amazing support from our ministry partners, three different YFC ministries (Young Parents, Work Force, and Turning Point) were able to help Grace bring her family back, in time to enjoy Christmas all together.

Today, Grace is a changed mother, standing as a testament to how Jesus can transform a life and restore a family’s hope forever.
