YFC Canada
When did you start at YFC?
I started at YFC In November 2021.
How did God call you to ministry/YFC?
For the past ten years I’ve spent much of my free time coaching basketball and volunteering as
a youth leader. In 2021 God showed me that this passion for working with youth could be a full
time position. My wife and I moved to Winnipeg in 2021, and it was at this time that I started to
pursue what God had put on my heart. Soon after I discovered YFC and after lots of prayer
followed by affirmation, I started with the Work Force team at YFC. I am very thankful for the
privilege to be able to serve in this position.
What do you do at YFC?
I am part of the Work Force team, my position is the “Job Studio” coordinator. Job Studio is an
employment skills training program for youth and young adults (ages 16 – 20). I help the youth
navigate the transition into the working world and adult life. The program focuses on developing
skills such as resume writing, how to search and find a job, handling the interview process, and
dealing with practical everyday skills such as budgeting, working together, dealing with stress,
conflict, etc. After completing the program we help youth to use their new skills to find jobs.
Job Studio is designed to meet the youth at their level by building relationships and walking with
them through the process of obtaining a job. Each youth gets access to a mentor they meet with
throughout the program and as they obtain a job to ensure they are supported through the ups
and downs of employment. This provides a great opportunity to demonstrate the love of Jesus,
walking alongside and supporting the youth through relationship. We incorporate opportunities
within Job Studio to invite the youth to learn more about God and His plans for them, and we
offer guidance and discipleship as they begin their faith journeys.
Any other ministries or interesting hobbies you are involved in?
I enjoy playing sports of all kinds, especially basketball and soccer. One of my favorite things to
do is adventuring outdoors with my wife, Janine. We love to go hiking, backpacking and
camping.
