Derek, alongside his wife Kirsten started at YFC together March 1, 2020.  

Derek grew up as a missionary kid in Bolivia and Uruguay, which later turned into God calling him to be active in his parents’ ministry.  Derek was only 5 weeks old when his family left for South America, and he came back with them just before going to Millar College Of The Bible.  It was during his time there when Derek met his future wife, Kirsten, and heard God’s call on his life to enter full time ministry.  After a year of interning at Christian Fellowship Chapel, Derek heard of a position with YFC that allowed him and his wife to partner with the same church where they interned and started a youth program.  Together, they served as Community Youth Ministers through YFC in South Osborne for a number of years reaching neighbourhood youth with the Gospel and connecting them to Youth For Christ and the local church. 

Derek currently serves on the maintenance team at YFC Winnipeg.

Derek likes to play sports (mostly soccer), he plays a variety of instruments, and really enjoys woodworking or any kind of handyman project.
