YFC Canada
Jamie has been YFC’s Director of Ball Hockey since 2012.
Growing up a pastor’s kid, Jamie felt called into ministry at a young age, and when he was a teenager he became intrigued by apologetics (defending one’s beliefs through systematic argumentation and discourse). Jamie went to Providence College to become a pastor, but as he matured and worked with Athletes in Action, including participating on a soccer tour to South Africa in 2008, he learned athletic ministry was his passion.
Jamie LOVES sports! Hockey, soccer, football, ping pong, golf, professional wrestling, you name it. Most of the relationships he has formed in his life have started at or included sports. He even met his wife because she attended one of his hockey games.
Jamie believes sports can have an incredible impact in a person’s life, and that the same is true with Christ. Our faith is similar to sports, it takes dedication (faith), practice (prayer, reading scripture), sacrifice (giving up oneself), and trust (relationship to God). Jamie wants to see the youth of this city come to know Christ, and see Him as a part of their athletics, not separate from.
Jamie and his wife, Hali, have two incredibly energetic boys, Torin & Cooper. Hali is a stay at home mother with business aspirations, while Torin & Cooper are currently unemployed. 😉
