Monica grew up knowing about the love of Jesus but in middle school, the phrase “I’m not good enough” began shaping her identity. This started a nearly 7-year downward spiral that led to self hate. Thankfully, God intervened using a group of friends who spoke truth, the freedom of Christ and the promises of God into her life. Today, her identity doesn’t revolve around works. It’s rooted in Jesus Christ’s perfect love.

Monica started with YFC in the summer of 2021 because she wanted to share the freedom, love, joy and forgiveness in Christ that she had received with Winnipeg’s youth. Her love of fitness made ‘The Rig’ a natural fit.

Monica leads worship at a local church. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends, running, being in nature and singing. She is part of a loving family of five, who have played a crucial role in shaping her love for fitness, adventure and music.
